# Abu Dhabi to Dubai Train — Etihad Rail times, tickets & classes

Two cities, about 64 minutes apart. Etihad Rail's passenger line between Abu Dhabi and Dubai launched on 30 September 2026, running 10 trains a day — city to city, no traffic, no parking.

## The Abu Dhabi to Dubai train route
One fast line links the UAE's two biggest cities. The train leaves the Abu Dhabi station in Mohammed Bin Zayed City and runs to the Dubai station at Jumeirah Golf Estates, part of Etihad Rail's national network that continues on to Sharjah and Fujairah. The same trains run the route in reverse from Dubai back to Abu Dhabi.

- Journey: about 64 minutes, city to city (10 trains a day, 5 each way)
- Distance: roughly 150 km, Abu Dhabi to Dubai
- Launch: service began 30 September 2026 (Abu Dhabi–Fujairah began 30 June 2026)

Etihad Rail is the UAE's national railway. The line was first built for freight linking the country's ports and industrial areas from Ghuweifat on the Saudi Arabia border to Fujairah, and the passenger network now shares that spine, with a longer-term plan to connect across the border into the wider GCC rail network.

Sharjah's Al Dhaid station also opened on 30 September 2026, the same day as Dubai — so Sharjah is already on the network. A second Sharjah stop, University City Station, follows on 30 March 2027. In the Western Region, Liwa and Madinat Zayed open 30 November 2026, with Al Mirfa, Al Dhannah and Al Sila following on 30 December 2026.

## Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 64 minutes
The train's whole point is speed, door of the station to door of the station:

- Train (Etihad Rail): ~64 minutes
- Car: ~1 hour 20 minutes on the E11 in clear traffic, plus parking
- Bus (E100): ~2 hours 15 minutes, AED 25

Driving assumes clear traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road — rarely a given at peak. The train's time is fixed whatever the motorway is doing.
